Dylan Bundy, who has left little to prove after his first six pro starts with Class A Delmarva, did at least one thing Monday he hadn't before -- go five innings.

The Orioles' No. 2 prospect continued his streak of not allowing an earned run, giving up an unearned run on five hits while striking out three over a career-high five innings in the Shorebirds' 4-1 loss to the Lakewood Blue Claws.

Bundy started his career by not allowing a hit over 13 innings in his first four starts. He didn't allow a run until his sixth start. And through seven starts and 25 innings, he still sports a perfect 0.00 ERA.

On Monday, Bundy said he was happy with pitching efficiently following a 21-pitch first inning. In all, MLB.com's No. 9 prospect threw 67 pitches over the five frames.

"Overall, it was a pretty decent start aside from fastball command on the glove side," said last year's No. 4 overall Draft pick. "I didn't walk anybody, but fastball command was definitely an issue."

Walks are indeed a rarity for the Owasso (Okla.) High School product. He's issued just two free passes in his 25 innings, while striking out 36, a rate of 12.96 strikeouts per nine innings.

The 19-year-old said he was proud of one particular pitch Monday.

"I was happy with my curveball," Bundy said. "I threw four out of five for strikes. I got two groundballs and a couple of swings-and-misses."

Bundy's run came on a passed ball in the first inning. Lakewood's Gauntlett Eldemire led off with a single and stole second. After advancing to third on a groundout, he came home on a pitch Delmarva catcher Gabriel Lino couldn't corral.

After that small hiccup, the right-hander cruised in his customary fashion.

Bundy said in his next outing, he'll be aiming to correct the command issues he had with another pitch.

"Going into my next start, fastball command on the glove side will be the main thing," he said. "When I have fastball command and I'm throwing my offspeed pitches [for strikes], it's going to be a real good day."

Right fielder Brenden Webb led the Shorebirds' offense with three hits, including a double, in the loss. First baseman Nick Delmonico drove in their lone run in the first.

Eldemire went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot for the Blue Claws. Lakewood starter Colin Kleven (2-3) also allowed an unearned run, scattering four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts over seven innings.
